Nar-Phoo valley is newly decleared tourism destination which is sorrounded by many 7000m peaks.Nar-Poo valley,inhabitants of mostlylama,Gurung and Ghale has unique natural,cultural and geographical wanders.This valley is mostly opened for organised trekking only.This region was firstly explored by Tilman in 1950's.Having 63 households in Nar and 39 in Phoo,Nar can be reached walking for 2 days while Phoo in 3 days from koto village.Looking back to the history Nar-Phoo was the place of khampa refugee where they used to live illegally at the place like jhunum,chyakhu,Meta and Kyang.This can be verified seeing at the remnants,particularly the ruined forts of the khampa settlements,along the trails of Nar and Phoo.
Living style of Nar-Phoo valley is similar to the rest of the vilage in nepal.They depends on agriculture,animal husbandary an dseasonal migration to the city center and mid hill during the winter season.Their agriculture is fully labor intensive.The valley is sorrounded by the peaks and hills and has amazing peace of land enriched by the natural wonders like breath catching views of himalayas,river,fountains,lakes and pine forests.The valley is also an excellent habitat of blue sheep,chyakhura,himalaya snow cock,different species of birds and elusive snow leopard.
Nar-Phoo valley is also reache in its culture.Its has unique cultural fearures.There are 5 Gompas in Nar and 3 in Phoo.Out of them "Tashi lakang Gompa" of Phoo is the most significant of all.Out 108 Budhist monastries ,it is believed to be the last Gompa constructed by Karmapa Rimpochhe.During New moon and full moon the vilagers performs puja (worship) in the monasteries.
