Chitwan National Park

Royal Chitwan National Park stands today as a successful testimony of nature conservation in South Asia. The Chitwan National Park was declared UNESCO Natural Heritage Site established in 1973. Chitwan National Park is the first National Park of Nepal to preserve a unique eco system significantly valuable to the whole world. It also emphasized that only a very small part of the national park is used for tourism. In 1970, His late Majesty King Mahendra had approved in principle the creation of Royal Chitwan National Park.

 

The Chitwan National Park is situated in southern central , covering 932 sq.km covered with deciduous forests providing every detail for those who are true nature lover with jungle safari and overlooking the floodplains of Narayani, Rapti and Reu rivers. Headquarters of Chitwan National Park is located at Kasara, 21 km drive from Bharatpur which is 20 minutes by air or 146 km by road from Kathmandu. Chitwan National Park offers a wilderness of rich ecosystem that includes mammals, birds, reptiles and water animals of several kinds.
