Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Goshaikunda Trek is the trekking in a very famous holy lake namely Gosaikunda for the Hindus and the Buddhists is visited every year by thousands of visitor during the full- moon festival in August. According to the Hindu mythology, when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced simultaneously. To save the universe from this poison, Lord Shiva drank it scaring his throat blue in the process. To cool down his burning throat, Lord Shiva struck his trident into the rock creating three springs which ultimately resulted in the formation of beautiful lakes. Finally, Lord Shiva drank the water of the lakes and got rid of the pain. This trek provides excellent views of snow-capped mountains, picturesque valley and glimpse of exotic 108 holy lakes with diverse ethnic culture. The three week tour covers Langtang, Gosaikunda and Helambu valley trek.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to hotel as per your bookings.
Day 02: Kathmandu drive –Sybrubensi (10 hrs) and overnight in teahouse
Day 03: Sybrubensi –Lama Hotel (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse
Day 04: Lama Hotel –Langtang (5 hrs) and overnight in teahouse
Day 05: Lantang trek -Kyangin Gomba (3 hrs) and overnight in teahouse
Day 06: Kyangin – Rest day, overnight in teahouse
Day 07: Kyangin –Lama Hotel (6hrs) and overnight in teahouse
Day 08: Lama Hotel –Thulo Syabru (6 hrs) and overnight in Teahouse
Day 09: Thulo Syabru –ShinGumba (5 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to hotel as per your bookings.

We will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival and transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay

Day 02: Kathmandu drive –Sybrubensi (10 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

You will start early bus journey to Syabrubesi; the starting point of the trek. Behind Trisuli Bazaar the road is tricky because of the grubby road. During the travel you will pass through many small villages on the way will be fascinating you with snippets. Overnight in Syabrubesi (1,440m/4,724ft).

Day 03: Sybrubensi –Lama Hotel (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Crossing through the suspension bridge and heading precipitously along a stream. The River you are following is mostly the Langtang River. You can enjoy the walk going through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forests. There is also a variety of wildlife in these forests: yellow-throated martens, wild boars, langur monkeys, red pandas and Himalayan black bears. Overnight in Lama Hotel (2,470m/8,104ft).

Day 04: Lama Hotel –Langtang (5 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

After taking morning tea, we embark our second day of the journey. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung.  Pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.  Also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind.  Cross several of the wooden bridges.

Day 05: Lantang trek -Kyangin Gomba (3 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin (3870m.) which takes about three hours. The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here, there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. We should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting, with snow covered peaks surrounding us in all directions. At this point, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Dorje Larpa (6990m.), Langtang Ri (6370m.), Langtang Lirung (7245m.) and so on.

Day 06: Kyangin – Rest day, overnight in teahouse

Rest and free day at Kyanjin Gompa for necessary acclimatization before heading higher towards holy Gosainkund, optional short hike or climb a hill for more better and marvelous views of Chimsedang Lekh, the Kangjal Himal, Naya Kanga at 5,844 m, Ganchenpo 6,387m, Dorje Lakpa 6,990 m, Pemthang Karpo Ri 6,830 m, Langtang Lirung 7,245m and across the northern border in Tibet the huge massive Mt. 

Day 07: Kyangin –Lama Hotel (6hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Early morning After breakfast, proceed to Lama Hotel. Since, its mostly downhill, it is 6/ 7 hours walk from Kanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way down hill through forest following the river. Pass through the ethnic Tamang settlements who follow religious and cultural  practices similar to the Tibetans


Day 08: Lama Hotel –Thulo Syabru (6 hrs) and overnight in Teahouse

From here after an hour of morning walk our route diverts to a place at Bamboo with few lodges, after a nice break here walk continues with a climb uphill through farm terraces of millets, corns and wheat’s, once leaving the farming area walk leads over the landslide sections, then reaching to a lovely village for overnight stop at Upper or Thulo Syabru, the houses around here are attached together on long line like a locomotive.

Day 09: Thulo Syabru –ShinGumba (5 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

You take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and the trial continues less steeply, through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Shin gomba. On the way of your trek you will see fantastic views of Langtang Himala and langtang valley. Shin gomba is another popular place for Cheese. Over night in Shin gomba (3,330m/10,925ft).

Day 10: Shin Gumba –Gosainkunda (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

The trail ascends smoothly through rhododendron covered point to the top of the rim and through a forested area. The area in-between Shin gomba and Laurebina Yak is a sanctuary for the red panda, an endangered species that the Nepalese call cat bear. You return to the ridge path and climb a wider route through alpine country to arrive at a Gosainkunda. Explore around the Lakes and overnight in Gosainkund (4,460m/14,632ft).

Day 11: Gosainkunda –Ghopte (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Today is a bit challenge day; the trail is climb, rough and crosses moraines. Passing three more small lakes, the trail ascend and cross Laurebina La (4,609m/15,121ft) after the pass, the path down to phedi and you continue walk up and down through out crossing a rocky hill with pine, rhododendron trees. Overnight in Gopte(3,440m/11,286ft)


Day 12: Ghopte –Mangegoth (6 hrs) and overnight in teahouse           

You slide down through a forested area and climb through a dry river-bed to arrive at a Kharka that is surrounded by rhododendron forest. You climb through the forest to arrive at the village of Thare Pati. Climbing the ridge directly above the village gives you a marvelous view of the Jugal area. Cross the village and enter a forested area, again descending to Melamchi River followed by yet again climbing to the Malemchigaon (2,560m/8,399ft) for overnight.

Day 13: Mangegoth –Kusumtang (7 hrs) and overnight in teahouse

Morning walk starts with a nice gradual path into a nice woodland for few hours, and then the trail winds up ahead.  After a nice rest journey continues with a descend most of the way to Kutumsang village, the walk is nice into lovely woodlands till Kutumasang village for overnight stop after a good walk of about six hours.


Day 14: Trek to Chisapani (4 hrs) end the trek and drive about one hour by car

Early in the morning trek from Kusumtang to Chisapani. Chisopani village, a scenic place situated on the top of a hill close to Kathmandu valley and on route to Langtang and Helambu with 5-6 lodges. This scenic spot offers tremendous views of Langtang- Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal-Manaslu and Annapurna range towards west.


Day 15: Trek to Sundarijal and take a taxi to Kathmandu

After catching the striking morning sunrise over the snow capped mountains, morning walk leads through serene forest and farmlands on the gentle descend, towards traditional Tamang villages of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang at 2,438m with a great views of Kathmandu Valley, the walk continues on the downhill trail most of the way to a beautiful spot at Sundarijal (meaning beautiful water)


Day 16: International departure

Free until the departure. We will drop you at the domestic airport. Fly back to home.
